9/28/2020 Service Policy Updates - October 2020At this time, in accordance with all directives given by the State of Nevada, we are offering nasal services; this includes piercings and change outs for the nostril and septum. We are still NOT offering ANY ORAL services. Want to view the Nevada Guidelines, you can do so here: Industry Specific Guidelines Guidance for Face Covers in the State of Nevada Black Hole Body Piercing offers services in full in accordance with Directive 24 and LEAD's 8/10/20 Industry Specific Guidance (linked above) The Industry Specific LEAP Guidelines notifies Body Piercing Establishments: "MANDATORY AS OF 6/26/20: • Face Coverings are required except or person meeting the exemptions established by Directive 24." In the bulleted list under "Mandatory*" is: "No body art may be done around the nose or mouth due to facial coverings." In accordance with these guidelines, we do not pierce under a face mask where a face mask is mandatory and required to stay in place; but where no face mask is mandatory or required, there are no "facial coverings" preventing body art. The exemptions include "Individuals who are obtaining a service involving the nose or face for which the temporary removal of the face covering is necessary to perform that service." Though we read this to allow mouth piercings under the same exception, Black Hole chooses to be more restrictive than the guidelines, which is explicitly allowed by Directive 24 at Section 2. Black Holes protocol for nose piercings includes: • The client is screened with a COVID questionnaire and temperature check • The piercer is required to wear a KN95 mask and face shield during the procedure • The piercer instructs the client to keep their mask in place and only lower below the nose when instructed • The client's mask must still cover their mouth Notably, we are not performing high nostril or paired nostril piercings, as they take longer and require longer exposure time, and we are not offering any piercings in or around the mouth. All of these terms are embodied in corporate policy and monitored daily, and we maintain our records of compliance. "Individuals who are obtaining services involving the nose or face for which temporary removal of the face covering is necessary to perform the service" - Guidance on Directive 24, Face Coverings Comments are closed.

What is the APP? What does it mean to me, the client? The Association of Professional Piercers (APP)(https://www.safepiercing.org/) is an international health and safety non-profit, voluntary organization. It’s governed by a voluntary elected Board of Directors (https://www.safepiercing.org/board_members.php) that freely shares information to help members, piercers, health care professionals, legislators, health inspectors, and the general public receive the best and most up-to-date information on body piercing. To be a member of the APP, a studio and the piercers themselves must meet and/or exceed strict APP Member Requirements (https://www.safepiercing.org/membership_requirements.php), such as stocking a specific quality of jewelry, staying up-to-date on CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens training, running spore tests on all sterilization equipment, and more! Needless to say, if you see a studio employing members of the APP, you know you’re in good hands and being taken care of staff members who care. Every single employee of Black Hole Body Piercing are either Associate or Business members that adhere to the APP guidelines and keep their education on body piercing up to date! |
